When are you looking for solid, time-tested advice on how to build a brand on Twitter? Then, read on to find expert tips on how to grow your Twitter brand.

Can you build a brand on Twitter with 280 characters at a time?

The answer is YES! We can build our brand even though we live in a small historical town that not many people have heard of. I’ve been doing so since March 2009.

Last year, the Ghostwriting founder monitored over 3.7 million tweets and 23M interactions in social media and ranked the top marketers based on the number of mentions that they have on Twitter.

Sharpen Your Twitter Profile

The primary part may sound basic. Sharpening your profile can help Make you zero to hero.

Think of it like getting dressed. It gives the impression of you.

To sharpen your Twitter profile, you shall:

  • Have a clear brand image and what you do
  • A clear picture of your face
  • An excellent cover photo
  • Link to relevant pages about you
  • A strong Twitter bio
  • Link to your blog

It’s essential to keep your profile photo consistent with what you use on other platforms. That way, people can easily recognize you.

Think of it like working out daily. The more consistent you are, the quicker you will get results.

If you are new, spend every time you can be engaging and connecting with other fellows. Stay on it every day without resting. Engage with others and post daily.

If you already have a relationship, spend at least 15-30 minutes daily maintaining that relationship. Then, I recommend you schedule your content. Get a social media content calendar if you need tips from the ghostwriting services packages, ideas, and planning space for your content.

If you plan, you can spend more time active.

Be active on Twitter helps you get noticed.

I recommend you to have a routine. I like to go on to Twitter whenever I finish writing an article. Engaging with others

Follow the Leaders

I am sure you have heard of the saying, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

Follow the leaders or influencers in the industry.

Twitter lists

I recommend making a Twitter list of leaders with who you can connect.

Do this by:

  • Replying to their tweets
  • Retweeting their tweets
  • Saying hi or hello
  • Helping them out if they ask

Take it up a step by following them on different social media platforms like Instagram. Instagram is where people are more personal compared to other platforms. Use some of the individual posts they share there as a conversation starter.

If you see something on Instagram that someone you want to connect with was at the beach. Then, a few days later, the same person posts something on Twitter. Reply to that tweet and add a personal touch like “How was the beach the other day?”

Provide Value to Your Tweets

Value adds context to your Twitter brand.

Here are two ways you can provide value.

  • Share some posts of other people
  • Share your post

I would recommend doing both. Find a percentage for those tweets.

I like to keep my ratio 50:50 at least, as I already have many posts that I’ve written on numerous blogs and my blog.

Publish Personal Posts

Yup! Post personal posts! Some are not a fan of this. Why? Because we are human!

I’m not a fan of sticking to just posting challenging content.

It feels robotic and insincere. On the other hand, posting a personal post of a photo of you, your dogs, your favorite food, or anything behind the scenes adds human elements. These help you to stand out. As a result, my posts to be engaging content.

People like to feel like connecting to a person instead of an avatar. Those personal photos, including the selfies, can help. It makes you more memorable.

Join different Twitter Chats

Twitter chats are imperative. The people you meet in those chats are the best people to start engaging with.

They are active on Twitter daily, and they are sincere. I still actively engage with most of them.

They are also open to others joining their community. So many would encourage you to. So join them, and you will have an instant community to help you if you need it. Remember to begin by adding value to your content first, of course.

some of the top chats

Some Twitter chats would I recommend you join are:

  • #Mediatochat
  • #Twittergetssmarter
  • #CustServ
  • #AgenciesChat

If you add value, you will also be invited as a guest on the Twitter chat. Being a guest is a great way to boost credibility.

Follow Active People

I love to follow the active people on Twitter who share good tweets and actively engage with me.

Following is the fastest way to connect with other people and grow the followers that you have.

Following people worked a few years ago, and it still works today.

 Brag

Brag is what I’m calling it.

If you have mentioned in an article, listed in an expert’s list, detailed in a list to follow, tested something, and saw results or anything relevant to your brand, Tweet it! “Brag” about it.

We want to do that because we want to show the people following you that you have achieved anything. It again adds something to show that you are a professional on something.

I noticed many do not take advantage of this. Instead, they take the humbler approach of not saying anything.

If you don’t, people won’t notice you.

 Have a Blog

If you asked me to enlist the single most crucial factor that has helped me brand my Twitter account, it would be my blog.

As said by book trailer services experts twitter is the highest platform for short content, engaging with people, and having your voice.

However, when trying to show your expertise to create your brand, a blog will take it to another level.

Your blog is for you to show your expertise. Blogging will add context and is a great complementary platform to your brand on Twitter. It goes hand to hand.

I like to think of my blogs as my thoughts and Twitter as the voice for my studies.

Be Authentic

I kept the best for last. Be original and be yourself.

Someone told me to be professional on Twitter.

I did not listen because it was not me. I like to be sassy in my tweets and add some fun. That is the real me, and that is me online.

The same applies to the content that you are sharing. For example, suppose you don’t like to share quotes or personal photos. Please don’t do it.

Be yourself. Implement the best of the practices but at the end of the day, be YOU.

In Conclusion

These are all things I’ve learned through my years of being on Twitter. It has helped grow my brand on Twitter tremendously.

I’ve proved that many of them do work, and it will work today as I’ve continuously seen results from them.
