Mrs. Pratibha Patil was the thirteenth and first woman President of India who was born in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. His father’s name was Narayan Rao. He started concentrating in politics while practicing law at the age of 27. In 1962, he contested the elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Indian National Congress and won. She was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from 1962- 1985. In 2004, she was the woman governor of the state. He took over as the President in 2007. He did a lot of work for the development. Mrs. Pratibha Patil is a great lady.

Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil was born on 19 December 1934 in Nadgaon village of Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. She is the first woman elected to this position. Prior to her election as the President of India, Mrs. Patil was the Governor of Rajasthan from November 8, 2004 to June 21, 2007. Mrs. Patil did her early education from RR Vidyalaya, Jalgaon and later obtained her Master’s degree in Political Science and Economics from Moolji Jetha College, Jalgaon. Later, he obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Government Law College, Bombay (Mumbai). While in college, he took an active part in sports, excelled in table tennis and won several shields in various inter-collegiate tournaments. Even as a legislator, he did his studies as a law student.

Mrs. Patil started her professional career as an advocate practicing in Jalgaon District Court and devoted herself in several social activities, as well as for the upliftment of poor women. At the age of 27, he successfully contested his first election to the Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly from Jalgaon Assembly Constituency. After this he was elected four times MLA from Elabad (Muktai Nagar) constituency till 1985. Thereafter, he served as Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from 1985 to 1990 and was later elected Member of Parliament to 10th Lok Sabha. (5) Schools for the poor children of the Vimukt caste and the children of the Backward Classes in Amravati District and
(6) A Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Farmer Training Centre) at Amravati
