As the attack progressed, the enemy’s automatic fire from a bunker created a backlash that brought the column to a standstill. Rifleman Sanjay realized the gravity of the situation and displayed indomitable spirit, courage, determination and sheer courage as he charged towards the enemy’s bunker with complete disregard for his personal safety. In the ensuing hand-to-hand combat, he killed three intruders, dashing into a second bunker despite being wounded.
